Alliance to focus on software-defined electric vehicles

Mitsubishi Motors joins the alliance

Tokyo, Japan - Honda Motor Co., Ltd., Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., and Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) today announced that they have signed a basic agreement to establish a new joint venture company that will develop and produce electric vehicles (EVs). The new company will be headquartered in Japan and will be operational by the end of 2023.

The alliance will focus on developing and producing software-defined EVs, which are vehicles that can be updated over the air with new features and functionality. This will allow the companies to offer customers the latest and greatest technology without having to purchase a new vehicle. The alliance will also work to develop and standardize EV charging infrastructure, making it easier for customers to own and operate EVs.

The addition of Mitsubishi Motors to the alliance is a significant development, as it brings together three of the world's leading automotive manufacturers. Mitsubishi Motors has a long history of experience in the development and production of electric vehicles, and its expertise will be invaluable to the alliance.

The new alliance is a major step forward for the development of electric vehicles in Japan and around the world. The companies involved are committed to working together to create a more sustainable future for transportation.
