Delta Flight Makes Emergency Landing After Cabin Fills With Smoke

Cause of Incident Still Under Investigation

Delta Flight 2846 from Atlanta to Los Angeles was forced to make an emergency landing in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Tuesday afternoon after the plane's cabin filled with smoke.

The Boeing 757 carrying 152 passengers and six crew members landed safely at Albuquerque International Sunport at around 3:30 p.m. local time.

There were no reported injuries among the passengers or crew.

Investigation Launched

The cause of the incident is still under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).

Delta Air Lines has issued a statement saying that the airline is "fully cooperating with the NTSB's investigation."

Emergency Landing Procedures

In the event of an emergency landing, passengers are advised to follow these procedures:

  • Remain calm and follow the instructions of the flight crew.
  • Secure all loose items and place them under the seat in front of you.
  • Remove any sharp objects from your pockets.
  • Inflate your life vest if instructed to do so.
  • Assume the brace position by placing your head down and covering it with your arms.

Delta Air Lines has a strong safety record, with no fatal accidents in its mainline fleet since 2005.
