Equalling the record

French discus thrower Melina Robert-Michon has made history at the Paris 2024 Games equalling the record. The 44-year-old thrower became the oldest athlete to win a medal in the women's discus throw at the Olympic Games. Robert-Michon threw a distance of 65.19 metres, just one centimetre short of her personal best. She finished behind China's Feng Bin, who won gold with a throw of 65.20 metres, and Croatia's Sandra Perkovic, who took bronze with a throw of 64.74 metres.

From Sydney to Paris

This is the second time that Robert-Michon has made history at the Olympic Games. In 2000, she became the first French woman to win a medal in the discus throw when she won bronze at the Sydney Games. She has also won two silver medals at the World Championships in Athletics, in 2003 and 2005. Robert-Michon's success at the Paris 2024 Games is a testament to her hard work and dedication. She has been training for over 20 years and has overcome many challenges along the way. Her story is an inspiration to all athletes, young and old.
